Welcome to the Finch Languages Applied English Exercise Book (AEEB) 1: Climate Change 1 - Climate (In)Action

What are the causes of climate inaction? What challenges do states and supranational organisations face in the context of climate change? Which stakeholders should be more involved in climate action?
We’re pleased to be announcing our first English Applied Exercises Book, for those interested in developing their language competencies, as well as their academic and professional skills, in a subject-specific environment.
This first document, Climate Change 1, focuses on some key reasons why climate action is not at the stage it should be, despite the pressing risks to our global society and the world itself. There are many other causes of climate inaction, but these three are fundamental, relevant and interesting. We’ve selected Climate Disinformation, Short-Termism and Climate, and Growth as the Ideal for this issue. Download the document below to access!
The future two issues of this series will consider Climate Responsibility and Climate Futures, so you can gain a holistic understanding of the key issues at hand.
Each document considers a broad theme within the topic of climate change, providing authentic materials, vocabulary highlights and exercises so that students can dive straight into their language development. With these documents, we aim to make learning simpler, more engaging and more productive.
People who will find the series useful:
English-language learners of B1 (intermediate) and above.
Students at university studying topics related to: public policy; international relations; social sciences.
Professionals currently working or seeking to work in: international policy; and climate policy.
IELTS students looking for more interesting ways to develop the targeted language skills.
We hope you find it engaging and useful - please share with friends and colleagues who might be interested, and let us know what you think in the comments!
*If you want to learn interesting topics like those in the document, please see Our Services! We're currently offering an exciting group course focusing on environmental topics like those above.
